Spiritual Direction/Soul Friendship
Spiritual direction is the ancient practice of paying attention to the sacred movements already present in our lives. Rather than offering advice or solving problems, a spiritual director serves as a compassionate companion—listening with you for the ways God may be inviting, guiding, comforting, or transforming you.
The Celtic Christian tradition beautifully describes this relationship as Anam Cara, or soul friend. An anam cara is someone who walks beside another with attentive presence, helping them notice the Holy in the ordinary rhythms of life.
As your spiritual director, I don't tell you where God is leading. Together, we listen. Together, we notice. Together, we seek to recognize God's loving presence in your work, relationships, joys, struggles, questions, and everyday experiences.

I'm Dr. Beau Smith, D.Min., a spiritual director (or soul friend) who offers a compassionate, attentive presence for people seeking a deeper spiritual life. Over the years, I've come to believe that the spiritual life is less about striving to find God than learning to notice the God who is already present. Whether you are facing a difficult decision, moving through a season of loss or transition, feeling spiritually dry, or simply longing to notice the sacred in everyday life, I would be honored to walk alongside you as you listen for God's gentle movement in your life.
